EME Journal 7
The school website that I will be talking about today is John G. Riley Elementary school here in Tallahassee Florida. After reviewing some of the teachers websites , I have noticed that some of them have not been updated since last year but I still decided to use it as a reference. The first thing that stood out to me from the teachers websites were the simple greeting. On the side of the site there were different drop down boxes that have showed things like "meet the teacher", "students resources", "Important Documents" etc. In the screenshot inserted you'll see exactly what I mean. I feel that these are all very important links that needs to be added on a teachers website. These links are all easy to navigate and has all the information the student or parent may be looking for.

When I envision myself using technology in my class room I will most definitely use my own website for my students to navigate to when they cannot reach me in that instant. The quickest way I will allow for my students to reach me is through the app group me. I feel that this is indeed a quick and simple way for students and parents to use when needing to get my attention. I feel that this is also a great way to make sure my students are learning outside the classroom and bonding in the best way possible. In both of these softwares (with their parents consent) take pictures and videos that can be shared amongst everyone in or chat. This will allow parents to see what their kids are actually doing and not only hear about it at open house!
To be totally honest the wiki platform was not my favorite at all. It was very confusing for me to navigate and it was just a lot for a website. The website was very old school like and just not up to date. But on the other hand it was a place that was very organized with all the different drop down tabs and different things you can edit in between. I personally will not use wiki with my future k-12 students. Not to down play my future students but if it was hard for me to navigate as a college student, then I could only imagine all of the emails and messages in the group chat when it comes to questions about the site as a whole.
