EME2040 Journal 3
Within our flawed society, most individuals don't even realize that their paper has copyrighted or fair use in it. Copyright is when something that is not your work is being used as if it is. Fair use is when you use something that is not given the permission from it's original owner. When it comes to how I will deal with these concepts as a teacher, I will host interactive workshops that helps to inform the importance of how to cite correctly and paraphrase statements without being in danger of being on academic probation. These workshops will include worksheets as practice to help for future assignments when it comes to citing and plagiarism.
If Academic dishonesty was present to me from any of my future students , I will personally first explain to them what happens when you present any form of Academic dishonesty and then simply will have to use that person as an example because actions indeed speak louder then words. So I will give that student a failing grade to let him/her and everyone else in the class that this is what happens when Academic dishonesty is displayed to me. Last but not least, If a student's privacy was invaded by another student I would simply explain to the student the reasons to why invading another students privacy is not good. I will use an example of " what if it was your space being invaded, would you like that ?" The student will then begin to think about what if was them they wouldn't want that to happen. In all, if the student then still continues to display these actions , they will receive a failing grade as well because I have already given a warning to them.
The new skills that I have acquired while working on my newsletter is the simply fact that you never know what you can actually do unless you try it. Before I did the Newsletter Design, I thought I wasn't capable of doing a design of that sort without it looking plan and not grabbing the readers attention. I was work and the Newsletter Design taught me just that. The one thing I can improve is my speed when making it, I just thought it had to be perfect so it took longer then I originally thought it would. The skills I learned will indeed be great for my future career, because when working with kids, they tend to gravitate to things that grabs their attention and this taught me just that. It's not about what I may like but what will my audience of "4th graders" respond to!
