For starters, ever since I had to start typing papers and using any type of typing software, it has always been MS Word that I would use. I just starting using Google Docs once I transferred to HighSchool. My honest opinion about both are nothing but good reviews. Now if I had to choose one it would without a doubt be google docs. Reason being because Google Docs is more modern for me and my favorite feature is that it automatically saves to my drive. As for MS Word you have to make sure you hit save in order for your work to be considered saved. So in all I love both but I personally prefer to use Google Docs because it just saves me the headache of thinking my work wasn't saved.
The standard that is most meaningful to me is the learner standard. This one is a simple grasp of attention towards students and teachers who are learning each and everyday without even knowing it. This standard is most important to the ISTE Standards for Educators because it simply keeps everyone on their toes by growing and learning different techniques to help better ones self in anything they may do in life. I personally love this standard because its something like repetition. Repetition is one of my favorite ways to learn and this standard is exactly that. It's all about trial and error when it comes to education!
When it comes to the label digital native, Im a neutral party that believes this has it pros and cons. For me, what it means to be a digital native is that I feel that we should be grateful that everything is within our reach but also concerned that this is a crutch into what the real world is like. The difference between a digital native and our teachers who are considered to be digital immigrants, are that we both have a helpful play in hand but those who are labeled digital native sometimes may not know how to turn it on and turn it off. Digital immigrants use technology as they see fit or only if they absolutely have to. Most people that are labeled in this category believe that everything us digital native's find online can also be found in books. I can overall honestly say that both of these have had great impacts on my educational experience. But there are certainly somethings I will do different for my future students. My students will be introduced to both, this will allow for them to think critically without a laptop or phone in front of them and hopefully will engage their attention so much that they won't even think about using their phones anymore unless it's to take a selfie of course lol!
